Tried and Approved
Ingredients
- 10 cups Crispix cereal
- 3 cups mixed nuts
- 2 cups pretzels
- 2 cups mix-ins of your choice (cheese crackers, bagel chips, goldfish, M&M’s, etc)
- ½ cup butter (1 stick)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Directions
- *Replace season salt with Cajun seasoning*
- Add the cereal, mixed nuts, pretzels, and the mix-ins of your choice to a 6-quart slow cooker insert. Stir gently to combine. (Note: if your mix-ins are chocolate and can melt, hold off on adding those in until the very end).
- In a separate microwave-safe bowl, add the stick of butter. Heat in 30-second intervals until completely melted. Alternatively, you can melt it over low-medium heat in a saucepan.
- Combine Worcestershire, salt, garlic and onion powders with melted butter and mix well.
- Pour half of the melted butter mixture over the cereal and mixins, and toss well to coat. Add the remaining half of the butter mixture, and toss well until everything is evenly coated.
- Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on “low” for 3 hours, stirring every hour to encourage even browning.
-
After the 3 hours, turn off and remove the lid until room temperature. Stir the mix several times to help heat escape.
-
After the Mix is completely cooled, transfer to an airtight containers. Add any meltable mix-ins (like M&M’s, chocolate, etc) if desired.
- Store at room temp
- Yields one Foster size serving
Notes:
Storage: Mix should last 1-2 weeks in an airtight container at room temperature.
Gluten-free: Use gluten-free varieties of cereal (rice and corn), gluten-free pretzels, and a gluten-free mix-in option (or more nuts).
