Sweet Blueberry Biscuits

Ingredients for the biscuits:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • ? cup sugar
  • 5 tablespoons cold or frozen butter
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ounces blueberries (fresh or dried)

Ingredients for the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ? cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice

Preparation:

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F.

Mixing dry ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.

Adding wet ingredients:

  • Pour the cold milk and blueberries into the dry ingredients.

Incorporating butter:

  • Freeze a stick of butter for about an hour, then break it into chunks. Spread the frozen butter evenly over the dough.

Kneading and folding:

  • Fold and knead the dough to distribute the butter chunks evenly.

Rolling and cutting:

  • Roll the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/4 to 1/8 inch. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out about six biscuits.

Baking:

  • Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 7-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Glazing:

  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and brush it over the warm biscuits.
    In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, water, vanilla extract, and lemon juice to create the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the biscuits while they’re warm.
